Green Seal

Green Seal® is the mark of environmental responsibility. Green Seal is an independent, non-profit organization that uses science-based standards and the power of the marketplace to create a more sustainable world.

More and more companies are recognizing that environmentally responsible design and production are an integral part of their mission and the value they want to deliver to their customers. The Green Seal® sends a clear message: we care about improving the health and welfare of people and the planet. As more and more businesses have begun to recognize that environmental priorities can be translated into market advantage, they've turned to Green Seal certification to give them a business edge.

By identifying, certifying, and promoting environmentally responsible products and services, Green Seal:

  • Improves the environment by reducing toxic pollution and waste, conserving resources and habitats, and minimizing global warming and ozone depletion;
  • Increases health and wellbeing, particularly in populations most affected by product choice, such as schoolchildren, service staff, and the elderly; and
  • Demonstrates to various business segments that environmentally responsible products can improve quality and boost profitability.
EcoLogo

EcoLogo™ is North America's largest, most respected environmental standard and certification mark. EcoLogo was founded in 1988 by the Government of Canada but now recognized world-wide. EcoLogo provides customers – public, corporate and consumer – with assurance that the products and services bearing the logo meet stringent standards of environmental leadership.

The EcoLogo Program is a Type I eco-label, as defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This means that the Program compares products/services with others in the same category, develops rigorous and scientifically relevant criteria that reflect the entire lifecycle of the product, and awards the EcoLogo to those that are verified by an independent third party as complying with the criteria.

The EcoLogo Program is one of two such programs in North America that has been successfully audited by the Global EcoLabelling Network (GEN) as meeting ISO 14024 standards for eco-labelling.
